About Alice Rhyslynn...

Alice is the little girl who belonged somewhere but never seemed to belong where she actually was at the moment...that is, until she came to Haida Gwaii.

A purveyor of visual images wise and fantastical, she has immersed herself in lore and legend searching through dusty tomes and speaking with those who still value the oral traditions to bring back images that will quicken the heart of those who know that there is more out there...

Alice, Hey that's me! is a persistently curious person and has often gotten herself into trouble by asking silly questions... forcing her to go from her tribe in search of the answers that just won't let her accept the status quo. On this quest for answers she has realized that each of us are stories, these stories sometimes run along a common theme and these become the folktales and fantasy stories that we so resonate with. This is what makes stories important and as a result, this is what makes art important. Find a piece that resonates with you. It practically sings to you and you know that represents you. Its part of your story in some way. Not that you have experienced it, but nevertheless it is part of your story. This doesn't mean to imply that you will find a piece of your story in Alice's work, but you will know it when you find it and then please please act on it. We all need reminders of who we are, what speaks to us, and why we get up every morning.

As for Alice...she is travelling on her own quest, in the deep forests or along the ocean shore, talking with the elders gathering and weaving lore and legend, old and new, into visual tapestries...she can't help it, that's who she is...and she is finally the girl who belongs somewhere...

Here's to your next grand adventure...
